Tee Off at Top Courses on the Hammock Coast
It’s always tee time on the Hammock Coast, which ranks as one of the top golfing destinations in the country. Three of its 12 public courses – Caledonia, Heritage Club, and True Blue – have been named among “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” by Golf Digest. Two others, Litchfield Country Club and Willbrook Plantation, rank among the Top 50 Courses for Women.
It’s easy to see why.
Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawleys Island offers a scenic 18 holes that do not disappoint. Some have even been called quirky, but they keep a golfer’s attention. Caledonia is an immaculate, challenging course for golfers of all skill levels.
Heritage Plantation at the southern end of Pawleys Island is one of the Heritage Club’s five courses in the area. It sits among 300-year-old oaks, magnolias, lakes and marshlands. A Par 71 course, Heritage Plantation offers spacious, rolling fairways and large, undulating greens.
Litchfield Country Club, the first course in Pawleys Island, is a classic. It features tree-lined fairways, eight significant doglegs and small greens. Its challenging holes reward precise shots. The 13th hole is spectacular with a lake running up the left side.

Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club was designed by golf-great Jack Nicklaus. Its most memorable hole is the 13th, a par 3, with a green exposed to the marsh and the Atlantic Ocean winds. A stay in our two-bedroom Tanglewood property puts you right next to the course.
River Club features water on 15 of its 18 holes, offering an enjoyable test for players of all skill levels. Its friendly staff and challenging play make it a memorable experience.
At Tradition Club on Pawleys Island, golfers find a well-maintained layout with generous fairways and protected greens. This is a classic course with some of the smoothest putting surfaces on the coast.
Wachesaw Plantation East in Murrells Inlet is a thought-provoking track crafted to reward the patient golfer. Its fairways are narrow, but its holes are fun to play.
Wedgefield Country Club sits along the banks of the Black River in Georgetown. This course plays through stunning live oaks, magnolias and azaleas as designers used the natural contours of the land to lay it out.
